I was given the task of delivering a ring to a certain mountain. My guide directed me to this tavern. Although myself and my companions were initially taken back by the rowdy bawdy chaotic nature of such a place we settled in quite nicely. Even met a nice fellow by the name of Strider, he set us up right proper. The mean folks that were following us didn't even catch up to us 'cause of him. AND, our guide finally caught up to us... Great place, id like to return

This place should be shut down. Went in with a group of friends, most of us of international ethnicity. The bartender immediately asked for IDs, which is of course normal. Two of us had Mass IDs. Others of us had an out of state (but still “real/star” IDs), and the bartender said that he cannot accept out of state IDs, that he would need a picture of passports. One of my friends had a picture of her passport— but she is from a country that has gotten bad press in the news recently. The bartender said no, we could not stay. Okay, we understood. We got up from the table, and were waiting by the door to call a car. This night, the wind chill was around 0, so we figured as long as we hovered by the doorway it would be okay. One of our friends went up to tell the bartender we would just be calling a car. This is important— he looked my friends and I head to toe, one by one, and said “no, you’ve got to leave.” So we waited outside the door for our car in the freezing cold. After doing some research, there is no law that states that Massachusetts bars cannot accept valid out of state IDs. That was a complete lie. I don’t care if you’re at risk of getting your liquor license taken awa

If you are looking for a TRUE dive bar, this is it. Likely one of the last REAL ones left in Boston. Congrats, you found it. If you are reading through the negative reviews here and thinking maybe this isn’t the right place for you, you’re probably right. All of the negative reviews are likely true.

went with a group of friends to get drinks before going to a concert. i had alcohol in my bag that i forgot about and the bouncer was extremely rude and just told us we can’t come in. mind you, i would’ve just tossed the alcohol into the trash if he asked. was extremely condescending and told us one day you guys will learn. maybe be kinder XD never recommending this place!

Do NOT use the ATM there. The machine says it will charge $3 to make a withdrawal, turns out it charges $5.50 according to my bank statement. Otherwise it's a nice, divey spot that gives a generous amount of popcorn with your drink for free. It's got a room in the back that hosts DIY shows - nothing fancy, but in a charming way. Parking sucks, but that's Brighton for you.
