Rocket Bar

I spent a whole day at the AI+ Expo in DC and was leaving the second day of the convention, heading back to the Red Line to make it back to Montgomery County. On the way, I passed a sign that said Rocket Bar. I'm an aerospace engineering student, so I love rockets, obviously. But it was a long day. It was after 5 p.m. and I thought to myself, “I could use a shot of whiskey or two”. I look through the door and I don't see a bar, but I see a staircase going down, so I know it's gonna be a good time. I get out my wallet and head down the stairs, and I'm greeted by two friendly bouncers at the door, and the ambiance is immaculate. There were pool tables, the lighting was beautiful, the bar countertops were so immaculately designed. I wanna go back just to look at them even more. But I first sat down to escape the heat and had a shot of Jameson and a water. But what really got me sitting in there was the fact that right behind me were a bunch of arcade games, notably a pinball machine. I've always loved pinball since I was a kid. I grew up doing bowling, and I spent half of my time in the arcade at the bowling alley playing on the pinball machines. I have books on pinball history b

The place has a good atmosphere. However, it is quite small, and although there are 2 large rooms, one closes earlier than the other which makes no sense since the place is open till 3am. The place can use a face lift as well. Overall, I give it a 3.8 out of 5. The music shuffle, however, was definitely good.

When you just have to get in that game of pool… 🎱 Cool theme, popular but the bartender puts you on the list for the table. You rent the balls (no need for quarters). Lots of other games to play: shuffleboard, darts, some retro arcade games (nba jam, big buck hunter) a newer pinball machine, skeetball, bubble hockey, basketball…

It is def a cool little spot! The pool table was reasonably priced but it can take a while to get a table. There isn’t a time limit people can play when busy, so it’s up to tje mercy of when each group decides to stop playing. They offer a wide variety of drinks and their are many other activities outside pool as well that you can engage in. They crowd is a mixed group and the music is usually a rock vibe

Good dive bar with generic games and pool tables. Definitely need to get here early to get a table but a nice spot to get away from the cities hustle and bustle. Service is good and fast and security who are attentive. Pretty good spot.
