Carom Billiards (캐롬 당구장)

Walked into this place so that I could learn how to play from my father, who has gone to this place multiple times with his friends and is immensely experienced, and we immediately gain disdain from register. I'm not sure if it was from misinterpretation or just bad service, but the person kept telling us that the place wasn't right for us, and that it was a "Carom Billiard," not a place for 8-ball, even though we've repeatedly clarified that we wanted to do the 3-cushion one. We got our table and played, but the guy was wandering around while monitoring us, as if we weren't welcome and we were stupid. He then insinuate and gives us a hard time that we were touching the table cloth with the tip of our sticks, despite countless justifications that we were not. "People walk in here and know the rules, and I don't know why you're getting upset," the register remarks as we wanted to leave because of how uncomplimentary the register was, invalidating the many times that my father tells him that he knows the rules, and that we didn't touch cloth with the tip of our sticks. Never coming back to this place again, for the service is not welcoming and feels quite racially motivated.

0/10 would not recommend, extremely rude and unprofessional staff. Got kicked out with friends after entering the establishment, we initially thought it was 8 pocket billiards but one of the employees told us told us otherwise. Out of curiosity I asked how the game works but he didn’t want to explain, then proceeded to show us the door. Before going, I asked if it was Korean billiards (apparently I misheard (Carom)) because I wanted to look it up online since I wanted to learn more, but he got very rude and started to get mad and said things like “You think I’m Korean because I’m Asian? Do I look Korean to you? Do the other people here look Korean to you?”. I tried explaining several times how that’s not what I meant and that I simply misheard him but he was not having it and got even more pissed at us and then finally kicked us out.

I play 3-cushion billiards. It's hard to find good tables. This place has excellent tables and great house cues. And they're super friendly. It's a very low key place. You can enjoy yourself by yourself. When it's busy, players are just focusing on their own games and you feel comfortable to focus on your own practice. Great place!!

Important for anyone reading reviews first: this is not a pool (pocket billiards) place. it's for a different kind of game played on tables with no pockets (carom billiards). So don't come here and feel upset when you realize there's no pool tables. If you never tried 3 cushion billiards, look it up, it's an excellent game. And this room is just about the perfect place to play it. Brand new clean equipment, non smoking, big heated tables, excellent lighting, even really good house cues. plus every table gets a digital scoreboard you can use to keep track of score, games, table time, and to call for service. There's some Korean food and various drinks available. If I have one complaint, it's that $20/hr is a lot if you wanted to practice alone. The more people you can shoot with, the cheaper it will be to split. Staff has been completely friendly to me. Don't hesitate to try it.

Longtime pool player here, and I've only just started playing carom billiards. Compared to the pool halls I've been at, this place by far is the cleanest I've ever been in. The tables are wiped cleaned after every match, the balls are always fresh, and the staff and regulars are very friendly and willing to teach a newbie like me. Would definitely recommend checking this place out if you want a no-frills, pure-billiards experience.
