Newport Pool Hall

I was so pleasantly surprised to run across this place on a long ride on the Cowboy Trail. Such a fun little oasis, and there were even drinks and snacks available for a small donation! Thank you to the people of Newport for creating and maintaining this unique spot.

Surprise! This tiny little Nebraska town has the cutest little building they call "The Newport Pool Hall" and is open 24/7 My family met up and gathered inside to visit and take a quick rest. We found snacks and drinks available at a very reasonable price, operated on the honor system (so bring some cash or change), and free games of pool were played. How awesome it was to find this place. It just warmed my heart to see and experience this kind of small town accommodations and entertainment for anyone to enjoy.

STOP HERE! This was a neat little building, and a cool 24 hour snack and drink stop along the Cowboy Trail. I really applaud the town for having this resource out there for travelers. Next time we will make sure to have the time for a game of pool. I still have the last Fruit by the Foot in my bike bag to finish. 😂

The people who run this place are saints. I’m a nomad and had just hiked to this town from the nearest town to the west, through a raging thunderstorm. I was sodden and wet, and it was mid october so I wet as well as cold. The people who owned this place not only let me stay in the pool hall until the storm passed over two days later, they also brought me food, and the lady brought me to her home for some home cooked chili. It is rare to find good hearted people any longer these days and the fact that most humans are raging âššhôłêš is one reason I became a nomad and spend most of my time in the wilderness in the first place. I always appreciate meeting good people. The pool hall is well maintained, warm, and well lit, there is a pool table and an assortment of old timey games in there and they operate on an honor system as far as payment. This is definitely a place to check out if you’re hiking the cowboy trail or even just driving through the deserted quarter of nebraska.
